Drone sighting forces temporary halt of flights at Leipzig/Halle Airport

Overnight operations at Germany’s Leipzig/Halle Airport were briefly suspended after an unidentified drone was detected flying over the facility.
The aircraft was spotted shortly after midnight, leading authorities to immediately stop all flight activity, according to reports from Bild.
Normal operations resumed at 1:55 a.m. local time. One inbound flight was diverted to Nuremberg during the disruption.
While searching for the drone, officials also found a suspicious object on one of the runways. No further details about the object have been released.
That runway remains closed; all arrivals and departures are currently using the airport’s second runway.
Leipzig police have launched an investigation into the incident.
